During Sunday’s Washington Redskins victory over the New York Giants, Norman/Beckham 3.0 was a rather tame affair. Their matchup was tame even though Norman got under the skin of Odell Beckham, Jr. which caused Beckham to take on a kicking net.

On a bang bang play, Josh Norman made a HUGE hit on Giants receiver Sterling Shepard which drew an unnecessary roughness penalty. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Josh Norman has been fined $48,620 for his Week 3 unnecessary roughness penalty.

In this case though, I’m not sure the fine was warranted as Shepard comes across the middle during the play, Norman leaves his zone and moves to dislodge the ball. In order to absorb more of a body blow, Shepard ducks just before Norman hits him. Surprisingly, Shepard holds onto the ball, making a fantastic catch.

USA Today’s Tom Pelissero says that Norman was fined so much on Sunday because he is a repeat offender. Norman was also fined in last year’s game and this fine brings his total fines in last 2 games to $74K+.
