Letterman, Oprah, and Leno’s Super Bowl Party (Video)

In what I thought was a hilarious Superbowl XLIV 2010 Commercial, Jay Leno attends David Letterman’s Super Bowl Party. This was a sequel to Letterman & Oprah’s commercial from Super Bowl 41. I thought Leno’s appearance made it better.

Viewers were shocked, at least the folks at our buildings Super Bowl party were, when the camera panned to include Leno in on the bit as the two hosts have traded sharp barbs on the air over the past few weeks. Gawker called it “the commercial that made the most people spit Pepsi One at their plasma screen televisions.”

Happy 99th Birthday Ronald Reagan

From the 1961 Operation Coffee Cup Campaign against Socialized Medicine as proposed by the Democrats, then a private citizen Ronald Reagan Speaks out against socialized medicine. This is one of my favorite speeches. There is no video because this was an LP sent out by the American Medical Association.

These words about socialized medicine in the USA are true today as they were back in 1961.

Happy 99th Birthday Ronald Reagan! In Friday’s Washington Examiner, Grover Norquist has a great look at the 40th President of the USA.

Jon Stewart Takes On The Blogs (Video)

In a brilliant segment, Jon Stewart takes on the blogs for their sometimes crazy headlines.

Allahpundit over at HotAir writes:

His point about blogger sensationalism is fair — I nodded at it myself two days ago — but go figure that a medium driven by partisan warfare and fierce competition for traffic would favor eye-grabbing headlines rich with violent metaphors.

ICC Deals Blow To Bashir – Send a Message To President Obama

Brutal dictator Omar al-Bashir may still be held accountable for committing genocide in Darfur.

Today, the International Criminal Court reversed an earlier decision not to charge Bashir with genocide. With Bashir already wanted for crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur, the court will now reconsider whether to charge Bashir with the crime of genocide.

This strikes a blow to Bashir at the same time his regime refuses to guarantee basic political freedoms for self-determination: the freedoms of association, movement, assembly and speech; freedom from arbitrary searches, detentions, beatings and arrests; and freedom of the press.

Sudan’s first multi-party elections in 24 years are scheduled for April 2010.

The upcoming Sudanese elections could legitimize a corrupt, genocidal regime – unless the international community acts today.

Please join me in sending a letter to President Obama, urging him not to recognize an illegitimate election. You can also sign up for important updates on the Sudanese election and opportunities to take action.

We can’t allow a fraudulent election process to give legitimacy to a genocidal regime.

And without scrutiny by the Obama administration and the international community, the elections will deliver the sort of legitimization that Bashir desires.

Tell President Obama not to recognize the results of an illegitimate election.

Justice and accountability must be essential components of the comprehensive solution required to finally end the crisis in Darfur.

Steny Hoyer Wants To Squeeze Every Last Dime Out of You

The great CNSNews.com asked House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) his thoughts on freezing Congressional pay until the budget is balanced. Hoyer stated he rejects this notion which only means one thing – Steny Hoyer wants higher taxes for the rest of us.

Earlier this week President Obama and Congressional Democrats proposed a record $3.8 Trillion spending bill for the second year in a row that will result in a record budget deficit.

CNSNews reported:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) rejected the idea of continuing a congressional pay freeze until Congress can balance the budget, saying that it would take “a long time” until the budget might be balanced – too long, he said, for Congress to go without a pay raise.

Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Hoyer explained that Congress had already frozen its pay by rejecting a cost of living increase. However, extending that freeze was too much for Hoyer to support.

CNSNews.com: Are you willing to continue the freeze on congressional pay beyond this year and until the budget gets balanced?

Hoyer: “I’m sure that Congress will be willing to consider it. First of all, as you know, in order for there to be a pay raise, you need to have a vote. Cost of living adjustments are perceived differently by the courts and by the law. So you’re really talking about cost of living adjustments. We froze the cost of living adjustments this year, and I’m sure we’ll consider that again.

CNSNews.com: But do you support it?

Hoyer: I’ve not been a big supporter of it, if you’re talking about in terms of freezing until we balance the budget – that’s a long time. I think that that’s further ahead than I want to plan.
