George Zimmerman Punches Back At NBC News

Good for him for standing up for his rights. This case should be a no brainer for any judge given the depth NBC went to to make Zimmerman look like a racist.

George Zimmerman, charged in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Florida boy, sued NBC Universal on Thursday for using “the oldest form of yellow journalism” by editing an audio tape of his 911 call to make him sound racist, the lawsuit said.

Zimmerman is seeking “damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit” in Seminole County Circuit Court in Florida, where the lawsuit is filed.

Zimmerman, who is Hispanic and is charged with second-degree murder, is accused of fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, who was African-American. The February incident has provoked national controversy.

Zimmerman says he shot Martin in self-defense. Attorneys for Martin’s family say the teen was shot and killed “in cold blood.”

“NBC saw the death of Trayvon Martin not as a tragedy but as an opportunity to increase ratings, and so set about to create the myth that George Zimmerman was a racist and predatory villain,” the lawsuit said.

“Because of NBC’s deceptive and exploitative manipulations, the public wrongly believes that Zimmerman ‘us(ed) a racial epithet’ while describing Martin during the call to the dispatcher on that fateful night,” the suit said.

A spokesman for NBC Universal couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The defamation lawsuit accuses the network of sensationalizing and manipulating a potential “racial powder keg that would result in months, if not years, of topics for their failing news program, particularly the plummeting ratings for their ailing Today Show.”

Spike Lee Does The Wrong Thing

Via The Orlando Sentinel:

A school-cafeteria lunch lady and her husband have received hate mail, unwanted visits from reporters and fearful inquiries from neighbors — all because their Sanford-area address is being disseminated on Twitter as belonging to Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman, her son said late Tuesday.

The woman, 70, who has a heart condition, and her husband, 72, have temporarily moved to a hotel to avoid the spotlight and possible danger, said son Chip Humble of Longwood.

The woman has another son named William George Zimmerman who lived with her in 1995 and still lives in Central Florida. He is no relation to George Zimmerman, 28, who killed 17-year-old Trayvon Feb. 26, sparking national outrage and international interest.

Zimmerman traced the tweets — which he said have been retweeted by actor-director Spike Lee — to a man in California. Zimmerman has implored the man to stop and said he received this response, “Black power all day. No justice, no peace” and an obscenity.

Lee’s tweet has been removed, but it continues to be retweeted.

Jonathan Martin’s ‘Macaca’ Moment (Video)

Via Newsbusters, Jonathan Martin of Politico told Chuck Todd on MSNBC MSDNC:

I think the other reason why north Florida is going to be fascinating to watch tonight is because it’s going to give us a sense of what’s ahead in March, when this primary does move to the deep south states. As you know, Chuck, a lot of those counties in the panhandle, in north Florida, the “cracker counties” more resemble Georgia and Alabama than they do Florida.

You can bet Mr. Martin’s friends will cover for him and you probably won’t see many (if any) references to it on the nightly news. Rush Limbaugh pointed out this shows exactly how biased the media is.

Rush said today:

Okay, cracker counties.  Now, I remember a guy named George Allen who the Washington Post ran out of politics because he called a provocateur from the enemy camp at a press conference “Macaca,” which, if you go to the Oxford English dictionary you cannot find Macaca.  It ain’t there.  Nobody knows what it means, so it was free to be defined by the left, and they defined it as a racial slur, and George Allen was histoire.  But “cracker” is in the Oxford English dictionary, and the way it’s defined is this:  “A contemptuous name given in southern States of N. America to the poor whites; whence, familiarly, to the native whites of Georgia and Florida.”
