Al Gore: Superstorm Sandy Caused By Global Warming

In the movie ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ Al Gore claimed scientists had been giving warnings that hurricanes will get stronger because of ‘global warming.’ This has been proven false as there has been no change in the strength of hurricanes over the past 60+ years, even though hydrocarbon use went up six-fold in the same period.

Now he says Superstrom Sandy was caused by global warming even though has has no evidence whatsoever to back that claim up as many scientists point out.

In other words, Al Gore lies again.

Former Vice President Al Gore said late last week that there is no doubt that Superstorm Sandy was related to global warming, and people need to stop and think about what is happening to the planet.

As WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported, speaking last week Gore said flatly of Sandy, “This storm was related to global warming.”

Gore said “dirty energy causes dirty weather,” and people need to think about the consequences of pollution.

“We’re putting 90 million tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere every single day; spewing it up there as if the atmosphere of the planet is an open sewer, free to use, free of charge, just put as much junk up there are you want to,” he said.

Gore criticized the federal government – Congress in particular – for failing to take action on global warming.

Al Gore Blames Hurricane Sandy On Global Warming

Considering that the East Coast has been experiencing lower than normal temperatures this fall, this statement is idiotic to say the least.

Al Gore said Tuesday that Hurricane Sandy is a “disturbing sign of things to come” in a warming world and should prompt action to curb greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.

“We must heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis. Dirty energy makes dirty weather,” the former vice president said in a statement on his website.

Gore cited Sandy, which slammed ashore late Monday, and smaller-scale flooding in his hometown of Nashville two years ago, noting “both storms were strengthened by the climate crisis.”

“Scientists tell us that by continually dumping 90 million tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere every single day, we are altering the environment in which all storms develop. As the oceans and atmosphere continue to warm, storms are becoming more energetic and powerful,” he said.

NBC Washington’s Doug Kammerer Misleads Viewers About Derecho (Video)

In trying to explain a reason for the recent Derecho that hit the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic (including D.C.), NBC Washington Meteorologist Doug Kammerer says:

“If we did not have global warming, we wouldn’t see this.”

Mr. Kammerer has zero evidence to back that claim up.

What Mr. Kammerer doesn’t tell viewers is that the Roman Period and the Medieval Period were both much warmer than today’s temperatures. The planet then cooled off after that during a period known as the Little Ice Age. The Little Ice Age was a period of glacial advance, the same glaciers that have been in retreat until recently. These temperature variations were caused naturally. Mr. Kammerer also negates the fact that the planet is in a cooling trend.

Anthony Watts explains why the Derecho that D.C. saw was not something new:

They’ve been known over a century, and around far longer than that. Wikipedia says that Derecho comes from the Spanish word for “straight”.The word was first used in the American Meteorological Journal in 1888 by Gustavus Detlef Hinrichs in a paper describing the phenomenon and based on a significant derecho event that crossed Iowa on 31 July 1877.

They were further refined with the advent of weather radar. Derechos are typically bow or spearhead-shaped on weather radar, and hence they are also called a bow echo or spearhead radar echo.

Anthony Watts has posted about some noteworthy Derechos at this link.

Global Warming? What Global Warming?

First, the Farmer’s Almanac forecasted global cooling to continue:

Most of the country will see a colder-than-usual winter while summer and spring will be relatively cool and dry, according to the time-honored, complex calculations of the “Old Farmer’s Almanac.”

The 2011 issue of the almanac, which claims to be the nation’s oldest continuously published periodical, was released Tuesday. It predicts that in the coming months, the Earth will continue to see a “gradual cooling of the atmosphere … offset by any warming caused by increased greenhouse gases.”

The “Old Farmer’s Almanac” also is forecasting a weak La Nina — a climate phenomenon marked by an unusual cooling of the sea surface in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

Janice Stillman, editor of the almanac, said that means much of the eastern half of the United States will experience lower-than-normal temperatures with less snow while Mid-Atlantic states will see more snowfall than usual. The West will see a mild winter with average precipitation, she said.

Meanwhile, the South will experience a cold and wet summer and the Rockies should see a mild and dry winter, according to the New Hampshire-based “Old Farmer’s Almanac.”

“It’ll be cold. There will be no mistaking winter,” Stillman said. “But it may be a little shorter or we may see some small warm spells in places like the East Coast.”…

I guess this means that we here in Virginia should ready ourselves for Smowmageddon II?

Now this, solar physicists believe that sunspots on the sun’s surface are declining and may disappear altogether. In other words, global cooling will continue.

“Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades. The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age.”

I may have to bust out my long underwear this year. It’s gonna be cold and snowy.

Man Calls On Media To Cover ClimateGate (Video)

A man crashed a liveshot of a French-speaking reporter to call on the CBC to cover Climategate:

In case you didn’t know what ClimateGate is, the AFP has the latest on the developing scandal:

A top UN panel is to probe claims that British scientists sought to suppress data backing climate change sceptics’ views, its head said on Friday ahead of the landmark Copenhagen summit.

Rajendra Pachauri, head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said the claims — which led a top expert to leave his post temporarily this week — were serious and needed to be investigated.

Professor Phil Jones has stood aside as head of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, after emails allegedly calling into question the scientific basis for climate change fears were posted online.

Hackers penetrated the centre’s network and posted online thousands of emails from researchers, including Jones, ahead of the Copenhagen summit which starts Monday.

The CRU at the university in Norwich, eastern England, is a world-leader in the field.

Jon Stewart Scoops Network News on ClimateGate

From Fox News:

ABC didn’t cover it. CBS didn’t either. And NBC apparently wouldn’t go near it.

The network news broadcasts have ignored a growing scandal over evidence of a potential climate cover-up — and now they’ve even been scooped by the fake news at Comedy Central.

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” produced its “reporting” on Climate-gate Tuesday night, when Stewart quipped, “Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. Oh, oh, the irony!”
