Early in his opening monologue, the NBC Tonight Show host said of the stellar television ratings for Wednesday night’s debate, “The only person who didn’t tune in, I think, was President Obama”

Jay Leno took a $15 million pay cut to help reduce layoffs at The Tonight Show. An NBC Universal representative told CNN that figure amounted to a 50 percent decrease in pay for Leno.
The report noted that 20 to 25 staff members have already been laid off, and Leno adjusted his pay in order to prevent any additional cuts.
