Alex Wagner, who used to work for the left-wing Center For American Progress and the left-wing Huffington Post, and her motley crew on MSNBC just can’t seem to get over their Bush Derangement Syndrome.
On The Daily Show, Ms. Maddow calls Justice Scalia a ‘racist troll’ for calling a part of the Voting Rights Act a “racial entitlement” during a recent hearing on a case that wants to end the federal government oversight of the law. Signed in 1965 by President L. Johnson, the Voting Rights Act requires several states and counties with a history of racial discrimination to clear election-related changes with the federal government.
While Justice Scalia was simply arguing that states should longer need to get the federal government’s approval to make changes to their voting laws, Ms. Maddow resorts to name calling with a charge of racism.
“…spent months in every state legislative capital trying to keep black people and poor people from voting or young people.”
No Chris, what the GOP was doing was trying to prevent incidents like this one that happened in Virginia during the last Presidential election. I live in Alexandria and early voted in the last Presidential election. I then went to the polls and was given a chance to vote again until I politely told the poll worker that I had already voted.
So no Tingles, the GOP is simply trying to make the voting system fair – one person, one vote.
After all, why should a country founded on the rule of law care about the law (It’s why the USA is a Republic, not a Democracy)? Because our elected politicians in Washington refuse to do anything of substance about closing the border, see what the country will look like when our kids are of adult age in this video. It will blow your mind.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: People that believe in border protection, who believe you can stop somebody from coming into this country by higher towers, or more drones, or more people working there, I think are right-wingers or idiots. If you want to work and you’re looking for a job, you’re going to come to America, Congresswoman. You’re going to come in here and you’re going to find a way in, whether you have to take a boat, an airplane, or swim. Whatever you have to do, you’re going to get here.
And my question is, are we going to have a work permit situation that’s truly enforced so they’ll be no incentive to do that? Because you can’t work in the United States unless you’re here legally. If we ever have a system like that, we won’t be having this debate in 20 or 30 years from now all over again. (Hardball, January 28, 2013)
Fact is, if you come across the border illegally, you have committed a crime.
As the Israeli Ambassador pointed out on MSNBC over the weekend, Israel has had thousands of rockets shot at it from Gaza since 2009. Ms. Maddow has the audacity to tell viewers ‘we do not know exactly what started this most recent round of fighting’ (See this link too)?
MADDOW: And of course the whole trip to Asia comes in the midst of a very scary flareup between Israel and Gaza. Now, we do not know exactly what started this most recent round of fighting, but we do know that an Israeli air strike killed the top commander of Hamas in Gaza on Wednesday. And we know then that that was followed by rocket attacks aimed at southern Israel and then Tel Aviv and then today, Jerusalem. Israel has been pounding Gaza with air strikes. The attacks appeared today to be rapidly escalating, including signs that Israel is preparing for a ground incursion into Gaza. The New York Times tonight citing reports of Israeli tanks massing on the border with Gaza.
Former Newsweek journalist and current MSNBC.com editor Richard Wolffe was on last night’s Hardball with Chris Matthews where he smeared Senator John McCain. Wolffe claims Senator McCain is going after U.N. Ambassador because she’s black.
RICHARD WOLFFE: I think it’s Susan Rice. There is the question about John Kerry. But I think now that John McCain has sunk his teeth in, he’s made it about presidential authority, and, frankly, it’s outrageous that there is this witch hunt going on the right about these people of color, let’s face it, around this president. Eric Holder, Valerie Jarrett, now Susan Rice. Before it was Van Jones. This is not about who is hawkish in the same way John McCain is about foreign policy because if you look at Iran and Libya, Susan Rice checks those boxes. This is a personal vendetta. It’s about presidential authority.
MATTHEWS: So, you think McCain is being– McCain and people like Lindsey Graham, McCain, who had his own daughter attacked, was accused of having an illegitimate child when, in fact, he adopted a young girl from South Asia. You’re saying that McCain’s being driven by racial prejudice here?
WOLFFE: There is no other way to look at this because look at her foreign policy and by the way, Look at what John McCain said about Condi Rice’s nomination. We’re running this story on the front page of the MSNBC website right now. Back then– four years– eight years ago, John McCain said the people — the Democrats who were questioning Condi Rice’s credentials they were engaged with bitter innocence, they needed to move on. Why has he changed his tune? What is it about Susan Rice? And the answer is there aren’t any good foreign policy explanations for it.
