Spotted this post on Memorial Day from CBS News' Andy Rooney this morning. The commentary was originally delivered in 2005 but, rings true today.

"As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation. And let us also pledge to do our utmost to carry out what must have been their wish: that no other generation of young men will every have to share their experiences and repeat their sacrifice."
On Memorial Day, I always take time to pause to reflect on some of the war dead who are buried nearby in the Alexandria National Cemetery, one of the oldest national cemeteries in the nation.
Memorial Day is the day that we salute all the women and men who have served our country and given the last full measure of devotion. Here's a video tribute to my fellow veterans.
