TV host Mike Rowe is known as a blue-collar guy who champions vocational education and avoids politics. But lately that has gotten more difficult, especially as he fields questions from fans. As the controversy surrounding protests over the national anthem consume all sports and media coverage, Rowe took on the issue Sunday in response to a fan query, and he spared no one.

The question, asked by a fan named Robert, was, “I know you avoid politics, (thanks!) and I remember your rant on the Colt’s leaving Baltimore. (As a former Brown’s fan, I feel your pain.) But I gotta ask – what’s happening to professional football, and what do you make of Trump’s comments about those who refuse to stand during the national anthem?”

Rowe’s response started off philosophically. “In democracies, we the people get the government we deserve,” he wrote. “We also get the celebrities we deserve, the artists we deserve, and the athletes we deserve. Because ultimately, we the people get to decide who and what gets our attention, and who and what does not.”

He continues by laying out the issue at hand. “Right now,” Rowe says, “The NFL, the players who choose to kneel, the networks who choose to broadcast their protest, the advertisers who sponsor the games, and the President of the United States, are all eager for our attention. And they are all using football to get it. That’s all well and good, right up to the point where it isn’t. In my view, this controversy really isn’t about patriotism, social justice, racial inequality, or free speech. It’s not even about the flag or the national anthem. It’s really only about one thing – what we will tolerate, and what we won’t.”

NFL Players Protest National Anthem on Gold Star Mother’s Day

On Friday night, President Donald Trump remarked that NFL teams should fire players who protest the National Anthem.  On Sunday morning, Trump took to Twitter, telling his followers to boycott the NFL.

The comments emboldened the players and led to wide-spread protests on this the last Sunday of September.

Players can do what they want as is their right but, did President Trump goad the players into the expanded protests today? You see today (Sunday, September 24) is Gold Star Mother’s Day across the U.S.A. President Trump issued the proclamation yesterday.

No one understands the true price of freedom made by our military heroes more than our Gold Star Mothers and Families. As a veteran, IMHO NFL players picked the wrong day to expand the protests of the National Anthem.

Madonna Rebel Heart Tour

No One’s Buying Madonna’s New Live Album

Madonna has a new album out? And a tour? Seems no one else realized it either…

Via Showbiz 411

Madonna released a live album last Friday. News to me. News to everyone, apparently.

The “Rebel Heart” Tour album sold just 3,848 CDs and downloads according to Buzz Angle and hitsdailydouble.com. It had no streaming that was reported.

Stranger, though, was that the album wasn’t released on Interscope, which put out the original “Rebel Heart” album. But maybe not so strange since “Rebel Heart” sold only 238,000 copies in the US. Madonna once sold millions of albums. (So did everyone.)

The live album was issued by Eagle Rock, a video company. Eagle Rock put it out as a standalone for audio. But they also sell a video package of CD/DVD/Blu-Ray that includes the live album.

My lifeguard walks on water Matthew 14:25-32

Verse of the Day: Matthew 14: 25-32

And early in the morning he came walking towards them on the lake. But when the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified, saying, ‘It is a ghost!’ And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, ‘Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.’

Peter answered him, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came towards Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?’ When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.Verse of the Day: Matthew 14: 25-32
