Sister Mary Jo Sobieck Throws a Strike

As part of “Marian Catholic Night” at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago this week, Sister Mary Jo Sobieck threw out the first pitch before the Kansas City Royals took on the White Sox. With a Marian Catholic shirt over her habit with the No. 60 on the back (in honor of Marian’s 60th year as a school), she threw the perfect pitch.

Electric Light Orchestra ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ (Video) #MusicSaturday

I found out today that, because of the music from Vol. 2 Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), my 10-year-old son Samuel is into ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ from Electric Light Orchestra. 

‘Mr. Blue Sky’ is on Out of the Blue, Electric Light Orchestra’s seventh studio album, released in October 1977. Written and produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne, the double album is among the most commercially successful records in the group’s history, selling about 10 million copies worldwide.

Hall of Fame NFL coach Tony Dungy sat down with USA TODAY Sports this week and said that the national anthem is not the time for players to protest and voice their concerns. This is similar to what the Hall of Fame Coach told the Sports Junkies this week. Coach Dungy said that if he were still coaching, the best way for his players’ voices to be heard would be via a national press conference, which he argued would give them more attention anyway. Having been a BIG fan of Robert Griffin III coming out of college, it was good to see RGIII back in action with the Baltimore Ravens during Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game.

After sitting out all last season, the former first-round pick of the Redskins started for the Ravens and was impressive going 7 for 11 with a TD. It was his first game in 19 months. He called the return an ’emotional day’.
